You need to know more than just HTML/CSS??!?!?

Visit this link...[here].

Whether you believe it or not, both web and print design go beyond creating artifacts. This podcast discusses some atypical skills that a web designer might need to know.

Is it better to know a little about everything (generalist), or do you think it would be better for you to specialize in one particular area?

Back to design, here is an article on how to become a great designer (not without some work!): [here]

Your task for the next week is to find a design (web, print, etc.) blog and share it with the rest of the class. Just comment on this post and share your findings - give us the URL and why you think this is worth our time.

This was a good post. Had some good info from an actual working graphic desinger and some really good points. Like you don't have to be a master of everything.

I like how the article comes right out and tells you that you do not have to know everything about the program in order to be great at what you do.

I do find that it is nice to occasionally be reminded that everyone started low, and had to work their way up. Its helps to set goals for becoming intimidating to later students myself.

I really like the http://thedesigninspiration.com/ the little snippets of design are nice for my ADD radeled brain, and help me avoid blatantly stealing another's design, since there isn't enough of any one design to do more than be inspired.

www.Toxel.com has been a pretty awesome resource for me. They have alot of good links and cover pretty much everything a graphic/web designer would want to know. They also have a category for inspiration, there is some pretty wicked stuff in there. Defiantly worth a look.

Yes we all do start from the bottom, Im glad this article stated that, because learning all these new programs can be quit overwhelming especially if your trying to know and be comfortable with everything that the program has to offer. I really am not to sure what websites I can contribute considering Im completely starting from the bottom with this whole web design process.

This article has very good points where you don't have to know everything in graphic design to be the best of the best. It is always good to learn new things now and then to help benefit you and to increase your art work. It all takes one step at a time.

The information she gave was very informative. Im glad that she pointed out that you can work your way up if you start from the bottom. It was also nice to see the before and after picture she created. This also a cool website to check out. http://www.graphicdesignblog.org/

i like this quote
"Stick to One Style
You don’t have to be a jack-of-all-trades — it’s exhausting." i know too many people that try to mimic everyones style rather than just finding their own.
